Optical Of Next Generation Networking

Cape Town with standing room only in the conference, a sold out exhibition and 30+ different service provider companies in attendance across the two days, the annual Next Generations Optical Networking Africa conference will return 14-15th February 2017 to a larger venue in Cape Town. The main discussion covered were the need for business connectivity and the need of rapid deployment to many and how terrestrial backhaul networks could bring subsea capacity inside African continent.

The collaboration between different countries in Africa in extending optical networks across the continent is still in its infancy in many places. Stronger inter-government cooperation is required to achieve ubiquitous African interconnectivity. Network resiliency is needed to support tourism and mineral industries.
2017 will build on these discussions and with how will traffic demand be met? Are optical solutions right for Africa? How to create differentiation in progressive competitive markets? Is there a business case for new subsea and terrestrial builds in Africa? Power shifts, rural mobile broadband optical networking strategies and more on 400G field trails.
